Bike Week

Boise is celebrating Bike Week this week and tonight was a Bike Block Party. These bikes entered the "Frankenbike" contest.

The tiki hut was our favorite. How creative!

Vita and Randy enjoy the spectacle. Unfortunately, when we got back to my car we saw what somebody did to my driver side mirror. OUCH!

Happy Birthday to V...Happy Birthday to V...

Vita opens some presents from Grammie Asch...

and tries them on...

and poses.

It's the big day!

The Happy Birthday look....

Grammie Asch likes to send Vita cards with music. Here is a great video of Vita dancing to her latest card. Unfortunately, I positioned the camera the wrong way, and I can't redirect videos (only pictures...why?????).

Night Night Time

After a busy weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Z, we all were tired. It's V's bedtime, but Grandma Z and I look more tired than she does.

Bubbles? Bubbles? Bubbles?

Ever since Vita's birthday party, she has had bubbles on the brain. The first word(s) out of her mouth in the morning is the B word. She got a new toy for bubble blowing (the lawnmower), but apparently the toy didn't even last a minute (unfortunately, a piece of junk...).

You Have to Eat Sometime..

Going to Market

Saturday morning we went to the city market. The fountains were on, and Vita really wanted to jump in. She did get a little wet, but it wasn't warm enough for a run through it.

Monkey Bizness

Friday's play time was a family affair. Randy had the day off and we went to Monkey Bizness, a new local play place that has rock climbing, a climbing maze, and huge blow up structures that you can climb and slide down.

Here are Randy and Vita sliding down the 20 foot slide. It's not clear at all, but you may get a sense of how high up they are. The slide whips you down quite fast; in fact, I got a burn on my elbow when I slid down.

Ooh ooh ah...it's V's Birthday...

On Saturday we celebrated Vita's second birthday with a monkey themed party at the house. Vita had a great time and partied non-stop. Be sure to scroll down to see the whole party.

Here is a picture of the food table.

Some of the decorations...

Some of the guests...

The kids blew bubbles and played with balloons (and, of course, played on the playground). We also had a painting activity. They each got a small wooden monkey to paint that was made into a magnet. The party favor bags included yellow or banana candy, animal crackers, monkey tattoos and a plastic, flexible monkey. The other kids (ie. Randy and the boys) played with these flying, screaming monkeys Randy ordered on the Internet. You flung them in the air via bungee arms and each monkey made its shrieking noises. There was fun for all!

This is Vita showing no interest in checking out her birthday cake. She was only interested in painting more and blowing bubbles.

Finally, with the help of Sean, we got Vita to participate in the blowing of the candles. I called this confection concoction Vita's carnie cake because it reminds me of air brushed tee shirts you can get at carnivals. Everyone got party hats and Vita got to wear a special monkey visor.

Sean also helped Vita open her presents. She started off slowly, but then proceeded to open her presents quite rapidly. You can tell that I am hovering a little to write down what's in each bag--and not mix up the gifts. She got books, toys, and clothes. It was a perfect mix of goodies.

After all her hard work, Vita finally sat down and enjoyed some of her birthday cake.

A perfect end to the party--a family picture!
